I grew up in a small town called Baralaba, halfway between Banana and Dingo in Central Queensland. I went to Baralaba State School and was accepted into the Australian Defence Force Academy at 17. After completing my training, I was assigned to the Royal Australian Armoured Corps. I deployed to Iraq twice, and commanded the Emergency Support Force that assisted the 2013 Bundaberg Flood Recovery. On 14 May, I left the Army to serve the people of Brisbane and to fight and protect the opportunities that have been afforded to me.
